"Dept IT has blocked your email access" Error Message


Problem


When accessing your email using the iPhone/iPad (iOS) mail app, you are receiving an error message that your email has been blocked. You may also find that your emails are not coming in properly. 

These error messages may look like below:

Cause

All emails now require two-step login as of 05/25/21. You may be receiving this error message due to the campus wide transition to two-step for all emails. More information on this transition can be found on the Blink article: Two Step Login for Email.

Solution


  1. Delete your email account in your mail client/app
  2. Re-add your account in your mail client/app
    • Once you’ve logged in properly, the initial message about being blocked will also disappear.
